Amy's parents (Bill and Charlotte) and brother (David) came to visit. Amy and I took off about 10 days from work and we all toured Australia. It was so good for all of us. Amy and I haven't been out of Sydney hardly at all so it was great to see some new parts of Australia. There is way too much to put in one post so expect several in the next few days so check back often.
Here they are arriving after a 30 hour journey. Amy and I didn't let them rest up too long because we were on a 6:00 am flight up to northern Queensland. We flew into Cairns and rented a car to drive up to Port Douglas where we were staying.
But before we left Cairns we hired a seaplane to take us up over the Great Barrier Reef. Bill and Charlotte weren't too sure that they wanted to go out on the reef so Amy, David and I thought that a flight over the reef would be the next best thing so we surprised them with the flight. Here we are about to get on the plane.
Here is our plane ready for take off. We only flew about 500 feet over the reef so the colors were incredible.
Here is a picture of the outer reef. You can see the line on the top where the reef ends. The change in color from green to blue is pretty cool. Here is Green Island. This is a popular snorkel and dive destination. You can see the boats bringing people to the island.

Even though the flight was amazing, before we left I discovered that I didn't have the keys to the rental car so I was a little nervous about what we were going to do after the flight was over. After much searching and panic, Bill found the keys in the rubbish bin next to the car. How they got in there we will never know but who cares, we were off to Port Douglas. More about that later.

Unreal! AWESOME! You guys are so lucky! I am eating up the adventures!
Very cool photos and the plane ride sounds so great. Glad your family could join you for some adventures.
And Damon I can so see you knowing the keys were missing and not telling anyone until after the plane ride was over. Yea for Bill and his dumpster diving skills!
